May Fun; Loveland and Beyond

As the temperature rises so does the number of things to do throughout Colorado. The Lakes offers easy access to fun and entertainment in Loveland and beyond, so we’ve compiled the must‑attend events and activities throughout the region in May.

Cinco de Mayo

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in downtown Fort Collins at the Northern Colorado Cinco de Mayo Festival, a celebration of family culture and community. Grab your sombrero and enjoy the two‑day festival complete with live music, a beer garden, a kid zone area and more!

Friday, May 5 | 4 – 10 p.m.                  Saturday, May 6 | 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.


Make a quick trip to Denver and enjoy the Cinco de Mayo “Celebrate Culture” Festival. Located in the iconic Civic Center Park, the event is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Bring the whole family for activities ranging from a taco eating contest to Chihuahua races and more.

Head to Greeley for one of the largest multicultural festivals in Colorado, the Cinco de Mayo Festival. With live music, a kids area, food vendors and the Fiesta 5K, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

High Plains Environmental Center – Native Plant Sale and Grand Opening

Step out to the grand opening of High Plains Environmental Center’s new location, located within The Lakes at Centerra neighborhood. They’ll have food, tours, a bird walk and more as well as a large selection of native plants for sale.

Saturday, May 13 | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.


Front Range Rally

Spend a day enjoying Colorado craft brews and food trucks at the Front Range Rally. Held at the Loveland Food Share and benefitting the Food Bank for Larimer County, this is truly a community event.

Saturday, May 20 | 2:30 – 7:00 p.m.


Colorado Corks and Cuisine

This annual tasting event and fundraiser is a Denver tradition, bringing together locally made beer, wine, spirits and foods for attendees to enjoy. Colorado Corks and Cuisine helps support Four Mile Historic Park, home to many community events and low‑cost school programming throughout the year.

Denver Arts Festival

The Denver Arts Festival is a free event supporting Colorado artists and showcasing select national artists.

Saturday, May 27 | 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.             Sunday, May 28 | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Loveland Sweetheart Festival: Love Locks Lights

The nation’s Sweetheart City, Loveland, Colorado just got sweeter for Valentine’s Day with the launch of the inaugural Loveland Sweetheart Festival – Love, Locks and Lights.

Become a Certified Interpretive Guide

This 32‑hour course, held Feb. 16, 17, 23, 24 at High Plains Environmental Center and presented by The National Association of Interpretation Certified Interpretive Guide program is designed for anyone delivering informative interpretive programs to the public. If you want to lead guided walks, become a museum docent, or teach environmental education, this training will give you a solid foundation.

Whether you’re a seasoned birder or an amateur, join Sheila Webber for a bird walk around Equalizer on the First Saturday of each month 8am‑10am from February‑October in 2019.
