Considering how many different little adventures will be built into Explorer Park, we probably should have named it Explorer Parks. And the adventures range from serene to highly stimulating.
First, there are the sports fields, good for touch football, bocce and flashlight tag. Two courts for the pickleball-obsessed (you know who you are). Have some little climbers in the family? They’ll love the climbing net structure and the miniature grassy hills. And your fur children will have a blast in the big dog park … that is, the big park for dogs of all sizes.
But what if you’re not in the mood for high-energy play? What if an evening picnic followed by some conversation around a firepit is the adventure you’re craving? In that case, you’ll want to head over to Explorer Park’s shady open-air pavilion. Or maybe spread your picnic blanket next to the creek feature. Then again, if you’re interested in a horticultural adventure, just stroll around Explorer Park and enjoy the native plantings created in collaboration with Centerra’s very own High Plains Environmental Center.
And remember: Explorer Park is just east of Houts Reservoir and is connected to a whole network of trails and parks. In other words, there’s always more to explore.
