Recently voted one of the best places to visit in Denver, the Denver Zoo is a favorite family destination located in City Park. The zoo features fun, kid‑friendly educational events all summer long, but is also open daily for spontaneous day trips. Admissions open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. during the summer, ticket prices range from $12 – 17 (and kids under 2 years old are free!).

Educational experiences can also be found at The Children’s Museum of Denver, which even offers free admission every first Tuesday of the month from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The museum has 11 interactive playscapes where children can climb on authentic fire engines, build toy railroads and go shopping in the mini supermarket. This hands‑onlearning experience is ideal for children ages 3 – 8 years old.

Looking for a local history lesson? The Colorado State Capitol tour is a national must‑see and also doubles as a workout since you will be challenged to climb the 99‑step spiral staircase in order to reach the open‑air deck. The jaw‑dropping views of the city skyline make it the perfect photo opportunity for a family picture, so get your camera ready!

One of the two mints in the United States, the Denver U.S. Mint offers hour‑long weekday tours led by guides who provide a fascinating look into the history of coinage and currency. Interesting for kids and adults alike, this experience will have you up close and personal with the shiny pocket change that flows off production lines.

Looking for a festival lineup? Denver’s festivals are fun, free and give you a glimpse of the city’s best sights, sounds and tastes. Don’t miss the Cherry Creek Arts Festival held every 4th of July weekend, or the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival in Sloan’s Lake Park. Learn more here.
