Meaningful Ways Lake at Centerra Residents Can Give Back to Their Community

There are a variety of new homes for sale in Ft. Collins and Loveland, but not many that can match the vibrant community life fostered at The Lakes at Centerra. With the season of giving upon us, residents at The Lakes are looking for ways to make a difference and give back. Here are a handful of ways you can get involved this month.

House Of Neighborly Service Food Drive

The Lakes at Centerra is participating in a food drive with the House of Neighborly Service, a local organization which provides life-sustaining services to children, homeless, single parents, seniors and low income families in Loveland.

Donations can be dropped off through Dec. 12 at the Lake Club.

 Community Library at The Lake Club

The Lake Club is starting a free library for the community. If you have books you would like to share with fellow residents and community members (all age and literacy levels welcome) please bring them down.

 High Plains Environmental Center

In honor of Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 6, the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) is collecting donations to purchase 60 heirloom fruit trees that will be planted on-site.

Northern Colorado was once a significant fruit growing region, but over the last century communities have replaced orchards. By planting heirloom fruit trees and creating an orchard, HPEC is preserving and restoring this portion of the area’s agricultural history.

Trees will be planted on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, with the help of volunteers. Additionally, all fruit grown in the orchard will be donated to families in need through The House of Neighborly Service located in Loveland.

 Food Bank for Larimer County

The Food Bank for Larimer County is another great non-profit that lends a helping hand. In addition to cash and food donations, the Food Bank also hosts a handful of events and volunteer opportunities to help people get involved.
